GLASTON-BURY 2025 ROUND UP!

As Glaston-Bury geared up for its remarkable 18th year, the spotlight naturally fell on its dedicated organisers.

Established in 2008, this fabulous one-day event has not only become a circled on all the locals calendars in the Bury district but its also a powerful force for good, raising an astounding £400,000 over past years for Bury Hospice and other vital local causes. 

More than just a music festival, Glaston-Bury transforms the town into a vibrant cultural hub, featuring diverse and tremendously talented artists and performers spread across 6 outdoor stages and hosted in 15 venues and bars across the town throughout the day.

But how does one orchestrate such an extensive and intricate operation, year after year? 

This event wouldn't happen without Christopher Buckley, Lyndsey Hopkinson and Laura Higginson's meticulous planning and monumental effort that underpins Glaston-Bury’s enduring success year after year.

From securing permits and coordinating dozens of acts across multiple unique spaces to managing logistics, ensuring audience safety, and maintaining the festival’s unique community spirit, and all the behind-the-scenes work that must be immense. 

Along with the selection process for artists that ensures a diverse and high-quality line-up, the negotiation with the array of venues and bars, and the strategies for maximizing charitable contributions offers an invaluable insight into what truly makes Glaston-Bury tick. 

Christopher Buckley’s perspectives on the evolution, challenges, and triumphs of this beloved festival would illuminate the passion and dedication that have allowed Glaston-Bury to not only survive but thrive for nearly two decades, enriching both the local music scene and countless lives.

He says 'Its fantastic that you lot come out to support us year after year, we would be nothing with you supporters in the crowds, and our volunteers, everyone here makes Glaston-Bury what it is.'

During the day we catch Miley Cyrus tribute, and Disney Princess sing a long on the family stage which goes down a treat with both the young and old, it was particularly refreshing to see the kids dancing and singing and joining in the festivities.

The legendary Ian Van Dahl was back on the dj stage for a 3rd year in a row, this 90s icon lit up the arena with crowds singing along in unison to 'Castles In The Sky', along with his right hand man MC Genie.

Glaston-Bury Festival was infused with a vibrant dose of nostalgia as 90s dance artists Cappella and Kelly Llorenna made an electrifying return.

Taking to the DJ stage, they unleashed a torrent of their iconic hits, instantly transporting the crowd back in time. Festival-goers enthusiastically embraced the chance to relive their youth, singing along at the top of their lungs and passionately raving it up to the unforgettable beats, creating an exhilarating atmosphere of pure 90s euphoria.

The Peel stage was undeniably blown off its hinges by two powerhouse tribute acts that we managed to see: Motorhead tribute band 'Loser' and Oasis tribute band 'Ultimate Oasis'.

Metalheads turned out in their droves for 'Loser', loudly celebrating iconic tunes that once belonged to the legendary Lemmy Kilmister, who departed for that great big gig in the sky back in 2015.

Following this impressive act later in the evening, 'Ultimate Oasis' took the stage, delivering a performance so electrifying that it would give the Gallagher brothers a serious run for their money.

The crowd was a solid wall, making it nearly impossible to navigate, perhaps featuring many who had recently enjoyed the real Oasis experience from 'Gallagher Hill' at Heaton Park, yet fans still managed to weave their way forward, eager to catch every note of this top-notch, incredibly authentic performance, right down to their final song.

Under the gloriously sunny bank holiday Monday sky at Glaston-bury, the town pulsed with energy as fans congregated in vibrant throngs at every stage, bar, and venue, showering the incredible festival, its bands, and performers with their unwavering support.

Yet, amidst this joyful cacophony, a profoundly heartwarming moment unfolded at 4 o'clock when organisers paused each stage, not for a solemn silence or polite applause, but to inspire a communal cheer – a powerful, uplifting roar for those no longer with us, but whose spirits undoubtedly once danced to the same tunes at Glaston-bury.

This unique and emotive tribute, celebrating memory with exuberant sound rather than quiet reflection, forged an unforgettable bond among the living, honouring the past with a resounding affirmation of life and shared passion.

Glaston-Bury once again left an indelible mark on the city, drawing together a vibrant tapestry of young and old from all walks of life. Uniting as one, the community showcased the unwavering spirit of Bury, standing together in enthusiastic support of local live bands and vital local charities.

Laughter and genuine happiness filled the air, as memories were forged amidst a harmonious and joyous buzz that permeated the entire town.
